Overnight: Home Office Staff Event

10.00am: Conference begins
When Home Secretary David Blunkett wanted to introduce his new executive team to staff, he addressed a meeting in Whitehall and simultaneous gatherings of staff in Croydon and Liverpool linked to the central event by sound and vision monitors. After his speech he took questions from all three locations.

12.30pm: Blunkett leaves stage
Pressgang had reporters and photographers at each location, reporting the speeches and seeking reaction from staff afterwards.

3.30pm: Copy and photographs sent
The resulting words and pictures were sent electronically to Pressgang’s London office where a design team, editor, photo-manipulation expert, production manager and support staff worked into the night to produce a record of the event.
9.00am: Newspaper delivered
When staff arrived at work the next day a four-page tabloid newspaper was waiting on every desk.
Pressgang value added
It meant that the important message of the previous day – a change of focus for the entire department – was recorded in a form that was easy to read and understand and in a format that people were familiar with and trusted. It was a permanent reminder of the event for those who were there and contained valuable information for those who weren’t.
